Vertical Balancers for Rotors up to 1,500kg / 3,300lbs

High-accuracy vertical balancing machines for disc-type rotors — manual and automatic options, backed by a 3-year warranty

About Vertical Balancers

Vertical balancers are designed for disc-shaped and round components, making them ideal for rotors such as pulleys, clutch plates, brake rotors, fans, and centrifuges. Machines are available for single-plane or two-plane measurement, with the spindle and suspension mounted securely into the machine bed. This design makes them simple to set up, easy to load and unload, and highly repeatable in operation.

Balancing corrections can be configured to suit the application. Machines can be supplied as measure-only systems, or equipped with correction stations for manual drilling, or fully automated setups with integrated drilling, milling, punching, welding, or grinding. This ensures flexibility for both low-volume repair work and high-throughput OEM production.

Levels of automation range from basic measure-only units to manual correction machines and fully automated balancing systems with integrated correction and material handling.

Tooling is supplied to match the component type. Options include solid adapters, manual or automatic collets, and automatic chucks, all engineered for secure workholding and fast changeover between parts.

FAQ

What is a vertical balancing machine?
A vertical balancing machine is a machine that allows you to balance rotors in the vertical axis.
Vertical balancing machines are typically best suited for disc-type components where the thickness of the component is less than the diameter. That’s not always the case, but it holds true in most instances. Think things like brake rotors, pump impellers, grinding wheels, and similar parts.
Whilst vertical balancing machines are not as accurate as a horizontal balancing machine, they are still pretty accurate and are suitable for most disc like rotors.
Vertical balancing machines offer several key benefits. The suspension, spindle, and drive are all contained within the base, meaning drill chips and debris don’t get into the working parts, so you don’t have to clean things down as often.

The machine has a spindle face, so you usually just need some fairly simple tooling, or it lends itself well to automatic expanding tooling if you have a medium to high volume of parts going through.

If you need to integrate unbalance correction such as drilling or milling, it’s easier to add a manual or automatic drill to a vertical machine than a horizontal one, and fully automated correction is also straightforward to implement. The footprint is
Vertical balancing machines are nice and easy to maintain. The main thing is keeping the spindle face and tooling clean. Beyond that, it’s typical maintenance of a spindle and belt drive system: you want to make sure the belt is in good condition. You should also check the spindle bearing condition periodically to make sure there’s nothing notchy or any knocking sounds.
Surprisingly, very little. The essentials are:

– Pickup transducer: keep at least one spare.
– Pickup lead: keep at least one spare.
– Encoder: keep a spare on hand.

There are panel components to consider, but as long as your OEM is a reputable business that stocks their own spares, you are unlikely to need much beyond the items listed above.
