About Turbine Balancers

Turbine balancers are designed for ultra-high accuracy applications due to the critical nature of the components being balanced. Turbine wheels are typically balanced on vertical machines, while full turbine rotors or rotor assemblies are processed on horizontal machines. Systems are supplied with either manual or automatic safety guarding.

Balancing manually is almost always performed due to the complex methods of balancing. However, semi-automatic correction processes — such as linishing or controlled material removal — can be introduced for turbine rotors to reduce the reliance on skilled operators.

Specialist tooling is required for turbine wheels to ensure exceptional repeatability and positional accuracy. Horizontal machines may include precision bearing mounts or supports to replicate operational conditions and maintain the highest balance integrity.
