Axle Balancers for High Volume Production Lines

Our axle balancing machines are purpose-built systems designed to handle all configurations, including RDM/RDU, FDU, beam axles, and third members. They can be supplied for horizontal or vertical axis balancing, and are capable of working with the full axle case, half cases, or back sections removed depending on production requirements. For high-volume applications, they are typically installed without standalone guarding and integrated directly into production cell safety systems.

Balancing correction is most commonly performed by drilling, though machines can also be configured for milling or welding pre-formed or strip-fed weights where required. Levels of automation are tailored to the application, with systems offering automatic correction and usually full robotic loading to maximise throughput and reduce manual handling.

Precision is guaranteed through advanced tooling solutions, such as diaphragm chucks with zero clearance for ultimate repeatability. Fixtures can be configured to mount different axle types, with adjustable elements to ensure fast and accurate changeover between components.

For correction, tires are usually balanced by applying rubber weights or stickers to the inner wall, while wheels and braking systems are corrected using pre-formed weights that ensure precise and durable results.

The tooling system is designed for simplicity and flexibility. Tires are mounted on a mandrel or arbor, with interchangeable forming discs applied before loading. Wheels and braking systems use a similar mandrel or arbor, fitted with a backstop to provide secure and accurate positioning during balancing.
